Description
A historically significant series issued during a turbulent era in East Africa, honoring the international coalition forces and humanitarian missions sent under the UN umbrella to stabilize the region and secure food relief in the early 1990s.
Each stamp follows a unified design concept: a handshake between a foreign soldier and a Somali counterpart, set against transport logistics (aircraft, ships, and harbor infrastructure) and the national flag or insignia of the participating country. The distinctive illustration style by L. Vangelli makes this set a wonderful historical artifact.
