Description
This dynamic 2002 issue is a tribute to the world's most famous cross-country rally, which has frequently crossed the sands of Africa. Designer D. Vangelli used a very interesting technique here—the background of the stamps is a raw, almost sketchy rocky landscape, where the vehicles are highlighted with vivid colors. The whole set has the character of modern graphics, perfectly capturing the hardship and dust of desert racing.
Detailed Set Composition (MNH Condition):
-
100 Sh. So.: A powerful rally truck against a yellow sky—a symbol of the rally's endurance and logistics.
-
200 Sh. So: An off-road SUV rally car, captured in motion against fiery orange.
-
600 Sh. So: A motorcyclist tackling difficult terrain, highlighted on a blue background.
-
3300 Sh. So.: A classic off-road vehicle at full speed, paired with an intense purple sky.
-
Bloczek (3500 Sh. So.): The true gem of the set. It depicts a dignified Tuareg figure in traditional purple attire, standing guard over the desert. In the background, the words "PARIGI DAKAR" are integrated into the deep blue night sky with a crescent moon symbol.
